We are proud to announce that genU Training is now a certified member of Social Traders, further solidifying our commitment to creating lasting social impact through education and training.
As part of the Social Traders network, we are expanding our mission of delivering life-changing training opportunities, while supporting social enterprise. Revenue generated through our training directly funds not-for-profit initiatives within genU, which provide supported employment and activities for people with disabilities, as well as essential services for seniors.
By fostering partnerships that prioritise social procurement, we’re creating meaningful employment pathways and building a more inclusive society. This achievement would not be possible without the ongoing support of our partners, students, and community.
Who are Social Traders?
Social Traders is Australia’s peak body for social enterprise, committed to empowering businesses that place people and the planet first. Their mission is to build a thriving social enterprise sector and promote social procurement as standard business practice, working towards a fairer and more equitable Australia.
What does being a Social Trader mean for genU Training?
Being recognised by Social Traders is a significant step for genU Training. This certification enhances our reputation as a purpose-driven organization, highlighting the social impact we create through our educational programs. By aligning with partners who value social procurement, we can collaborate with like-minded businesses, amplifying our collective efforts to drive positive social change, create employment opportunities, and contribute to a more inclusive community.
Our ‘profit for purpose’ model enables us to reinvest revenue from training into a variety of impactful community projects. These include:
- James St Gallery: An accessible studio supporting artists with disabilities, fostering creativity in an inclusive environment.
- The Otway Kitchen: A social enterprise producing handcrafted jams, sauces, and chutneys, offering people with disabilities the opportunity to develop valuable skills both in and out of the kitchen.
- Seasons Café: Every purchase at this social enterprise café supports the training and development of people with disabilities in the hospitality sector.
- Seniors Services: From retirement living to allied health and social groups, genU’s services ensure seniors stay independent, active, and connected within their communities.
What is social enterprise and why is it important?
A social enterprise is a business that prioritizes social and environmental outcomes over profits for shareholders. These businesses are driven by a mission to reinvest their profits into initiatives that create positive social change.
At genU Training, being part of the Social Traders network allows us to amplify our social impact while contributing to the growth of the broader social enterprise sector. By choosing to engage with social enterprises, you are helping to build a more equitable and sustainable future for all Australians.
