A woman is standing in a kitchen, she is cutting vegetables. A man is behind her and he is cooking on a stovetop.

Online Food Safety at Work will give you the skills and knowledge to comply with food safety standards, identify food hazards, prevent food contamination, and manage personal hygiene standards.

All food businesses in Australia are now required to comply with Food Safety Standard 3.2.2A. This standard specifies that food handlers must be trained in food safety principles.

You will learn how to avoid food contamination and lower the chances of food-related illnesses, how to follow established organisational procedures and how to recognise and manage potential food related risks and hazards.

Online Food Safety at Work includes the following nationally accredited unit:

  • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety

On successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for all accredited units.

Day 2 will include a practical assessment that you will complete via Zoom. You will be required to make a sandwich, plate up a cake or slice, make a fruit salad topped with yoghurt and serve the items, demonstrating that you can handle and prepare food according to food safety regulations and HACCP principles. You will need to provide suitable equipment and food to complete this assessment (see more detail in Course Requirements).
