What will you learn?
In this course, you will gain knowledge around how WHS affects you personally, about the fundamental cores of risk management, and about preventing illness, injury and endangerment.
In this course you will learn:
- Participate in a team-based project
- Perform risk analysis & assessment
- Operate commercial nail guns (framing/carpentry)
- Use modern cutting saws (mitre/drop saw)
- Use drills & impact drivers (multi-purpose drill batten & tek screws)
- Learn about commercial & domestic worksites, truss plants and types of employment opportunities
- Gain insight and ability in reviewing your own performance
- Work effectively with others
- Understand workplace health & safety including wearing PPE correctly

INDUSTRY INDUCTION
Welcome to Building and Construction Sector Ready! Today we are planning out and organising the week ahead. This will cover our team-based project, industry specific requirements, laying the foundations for the next 5 days and preparing you for work in the construction sector. |

KNOW YOUR TOOLS
Today we are going over the correct operation of the power tools which will be used throughout Building and Construction Sector Ready – nail guns, mitre saws, drills and more + maintaining a tidy work environment. |

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
Today covers the basic Work Health & Safety (WHS) knowledge required before anyone commences work within the construction industry. It will help you comply with the industry’s legislative requirements. |
Day 4

Nail guns/Saws/drills
Today we operate our power tools, cut timber to building plan requirements, safely construct our project and prepare for the final inspection. You will also partake in site cleanup throughout today. |

Upon successful completion, you will earn a recognised Training U For Work microcredential which is a great addition to your resume and can be verified by an employer anywhere, any time!
Upon successful completion, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued for the following units of competency:
- CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
Assessment
You will be assessed in the session, and will be required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to gain competency over three assessments:
- A multiple choice quiz
- A case study
- A practical task
