Learners will gain hands-on skills; operating a range of construction equipment and learn to work effectively with others through participating in a small team-based project.
Successful participants will gain their Construction White Card.
Building and Construction Sector Ready includes non-accredited content with the addition of the following nationally accredited unit(s):
- CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.
- BSBCMM211 Apply communication skills.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for all accredited units.

Study requirements
During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements that are necessary for you to complete your course work and be successful:
- Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Course Inclusions
After completing this course you will have a basic understanding of the construction industry, be familiar with many of the tools used and how to work safely. You will have the opportunity to test for your Construction White Card at the completion of the course.
What you will learn:
- How to perform risk analysis and assessments
- Operate commercial nail guns (framing/carpentry)
- Use modern cutting saws (mitre/drop saw)
- Use drills and impact drivers (multi-purpose drill + batten & tek screws)
- Differences between commercial and domestic worksites, truss plants and types of
- employment opportunities
- Gain insight and ability in reviewing your own performance
- Work effectively with others
- Understand workplace health & safety including wearing PPE correctly.

Building and Construction Sector Ready is a microcredential for professional development. It will help aid your job seeking process and provide your potential employers with the confidence that you have achieved these skills.
