This course consists of two modules designed to enhance your understanding of Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA) within the employment services sector. Throughout the course, you will learn to define OVA, recognise acceptable behaviours, and identify the various factors that contribute to incidents of aggression in different workplace environments. You will also explore and apply tailored de-escalation strategies, enabling you to effectively support individuals in employment services. Additionally, you will develop a comprehensive OVA management plan that considers the unique needs of those you work with, ensuring a targeted approach to managing and mitigating risks associated with OVA in the workplace.

Module inclusions:

Definition of OVA: Understanding Occupational Violence and Aggression, including its scope and impact in various settings.

Acceptable Behaviour: Defining and promoting standards of behaviour that ensure respect, safety, and positive interactions in the workplace or educational environments.

De-Escalation Strategies: Techniques for effectively managing and reducing tension, including active listening, calm communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

Individual OVA Plan: Guidelines for creating a personalised plan to address and manage potential violence or aggression, including risk identification and behaviour management strategies.
