This course comprises two modules that aim to enhance your understanding and response to incidents of OVA. By completing the course, you will learn to define Occupational Violence and Aggression, understand and identify acceptable behaviour, explore and apply strategies to support de-escalation, and create a comprehensive individual OVA plan tailored to the needs of those you support.

Module inclusions:

Definition of OVA: Understanding Occupational Violence and Aggression, including its scope and impact in various settings.

Acceptable Behaviour: Defining and promoting standards of behaviour that ensure respect, safety, and positive interactions in the workplace or educational environments.

De-Escalation Strategies: Techniques for effectively managing and reducing tension, including active listening, calm communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

Individual OVA Plan: Guidelines for creating a personalised plan to address and manage potential violence or aggression, including risk identification and behaviour management strategies.

There are no entry requirements for this microcredential. To complete the course, you will need basic digital literacy skills and access to a laptop, desktop computer or full-size tablet that is connected to the internet.
