Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures

Learn the skills and knowledge required to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks.


 

What will you learn?

This nationally accredited unit is designed for individuals who require the skills and knowledge to decrease the risk of and transmission of infection whilst carrying out their daily duties by:

• Following standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
• Identify infection hazards and assess risks
• Follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards.

  • Effective communication, documentation and research skills
  • Access to digital technologies (e.g. laptop, desktop, tablet-computer and/or smartphone) with basic digital literacy skills.

Students undertaking a blended and/or online virtual training will require the additional digital skills and technologies:

Digital literacy skills Intermediate computer skills such as internet browsing, email, word processing, and presentation software

Workstation setup

    • Stable internet connection with suitable data plan
    • A laptop, desktop or a full size tablet / tablet-computer
    • Web camera / microphone
    • Smartphone with charger
    • Earphones / headphones / speakers
    • Printer (optional)
    • Have a quiet / non-interruptive space to complete their studies
    • Desk/table, comfortable chair, no tripping hazards and room to move around for assessment
    • Access to water/tea/coffee

genU Training offer HLTINF001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures, in the following format:

Virtual Training Room (day) – Study in real time online with instructor-led sessions via video conferencing, supplemented with guided activities via the Learning Management System (eLearning).  Work based assessment tasks either in real-time via video-link or recorded video. 3 hours

 

Onsite practical assessment (day)  – Work based assessment tasks either in real-time via video-link or recorded video Allocated time by trainer/assessor

 

Session times:

  • Thursday sessions from 2:00pm – 5:00pm (AEST/AEDT)
  • Friday sessions from 5:00pm – 8:00pm (AEST/AEDT)
  • Saturday sessions from 10:00am – 1:00pm (AEST/AEDT)

Time zones:  Courses are delivered from AEST/AEDT time zone
