This pre-accredited course gives students hands on experience with a variety of digital devices. Learn handy skills across different programs, social media and internet browsing. Improving your computer skills will open you up to a world of opportunity!
What will you learn?
Our genU Training specialists give you hands-on experience with a variety of devices such as desktops, laptops, notebooks and tablets. Understand how to use each one for study or work.
During this course, you will:
- Learn basic skills in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Conduct research and job searching using internet browsing
- Develop basic skills in the use of social media
- Learn how to send emails and attachments
- Improve your computer / digital literacy skills in readiness for further learning/studies.
When you study with genU Training, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have the right pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your goal. You will need to provide evidence that you meet the requirements listed in this section.
Entry requirements
Must be:
- an Australian Citizen; or
- a holder of an Australian permanent visa; or
- a New Zealand citizen;
- and not enrolled in a secondary school.
Limited to Victorian residents living in the following local government areas:
- Greater Geelong City Council – Victoria
- Wyndham City Council – Victoria
- Ballarat City Council – Victoria
- Moonee Valley City Council – Victoria
Present a current and valid green Medicare card on the first day of training.
Study requirements
During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements that are necessary for you to complete your course work and be successful:
- Access to digital technologies (e.g. laptop, desktop, tablet-computer and/or smartphone)
- Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills
Fees – Victoria
This course is delivered with ACFE (Adults, Community and Further Education) funding and is free to eligible individuals.

genU Training offer Digital Literacy, in the following study modes and times. Course duration is 5 days.
On campus (day) – Study face to face in a classroom setting.
- One (1) day per week: 9:30am – 4:00pm
