Coffee and Food & Beverage Essentials includes the following nationally accredited units:

  • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety
  • SITXFIN007 Process financial transactions
  • SITHFAB024 Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages

Upon request the following units can be added to the course:

  • SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee
  • SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol

Course length will increase if optional units are added.

On successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for all accredited units.

Study requirements

During your study, you will need to meet specific requirements that are necessary for you to complete your course work and be successful:

  • Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills

What you will learn?

  • Build the skills and knowledge to prepare and serve a range of non- espresso coffees and other non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Learn how to process cash and other payments for products and services, including operating an EFTPOS machine, preparing a cash float and investigating reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Understand how to prevent contamination of food that might cause foodborne illnesses and understand relevant food safety laws, standards, and codes.

Additional units that teach you how to prepare and serve espresso coffee and provide responsible service of alcohol are also available.
