Empower your team for Inclusive Employment Australia
Fundamentals for Inclusive Employment is the industry‑standard induction program for frontline and managerial staff delivering the new Inclusive Employment Australia contract.
Developed by genU Training in partnership with the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Centre for Inclusive Employment, Disability Employment Australia (DEA) and National Disability Services (NDS), the course has been designed as the complete retooling and onboarding induction program for all Inclusive Employment Australia providers. It equips employment consultants and managers with the skills, knowledge, and tools to deliver person-centred, high-quality services that create sustainable employment outcomes for people with disability.
Grounded in the six National Standards (NSDS) that apply to disability services providers in Australia, the Inclusive Employment Australia Performance Framework and aligned to the Inclusive Employment Australia Deed and Guidelines, the course bridges theory and practice, offering practical techniques you can apply immediately to improve services for participants, employers, and communities.
Funded enrolment allocations
The Centre for Inclusive Employment has committed to funding 5,000 enrolments in the Fundamentals for Inclusive Employment course.
Funded places will be allocated to providers over three rounds between 13 October 2025 and 30 April 2027. Allocations are based on the number of staff each provider registered via the Expression of Interest (EOI).
Providers must achieve a 90 % completion rate for each tranche to unlock the next allocation; unused enrolments not taken up within 1 month will be requested to be reallocated to providers with demonstrated need and high completion rates.

Round 1 (13 Oct – 1 Nov 2025)
- All providers receive their requested enrolments up to a cap of 80 places.
- Providers with more than 200 registered staff receive 80 places plus one‑third of their total registrations (rounded to the nearest whole number).
- Providers must commence training promptly to achieve 90 % completion before Round 2.
- Example: A provider registering 300 staff receives 80 + (1/3 × 300) = 180 funded enrolments in Round 1.
Round 2
- Allocates the remainder of each provider’s registered staff up to 80 places.
- Providers with 80 or fewer remaining staff receive their full remaining allocation; those with more than 80 remaining receive 80 places.
- Providers with more than 200 remaining staff receive half of their remaining requirement in this round.
- Allocations occur once providers have achieved 90 % completion of their Round 1 cohort.
- Example: Following the earlier example, after completing 180 places, the provider has 120 remaining. They receive the lesser of 80 and 120, i.e., 80 places in Round 2. If they had 260 remaining, they would receive 130 (half of 260).
Round 3
- Once providers achieve 90 % completion of their Round 2 allocation, they receive all remaining requested enrolments.
- This ensures every provider is eventually able to train their entire registered workforce.
Providers will receive their specific allocation details, access to the self‑enrolment portal and guides on enrolment processes before 13 October. Allocations will be released in tranches according to the published timeline of activities.
This course aims to empower Inclusive Employment Australia employment consultants with the mindset, skills, and practical tools to implement person-centred approaches that lead to sustainable employment outcomes for people with disability.
Research consistently shows that person-centred approaches significantly improve employment outcomes. These person-centred approaches align directly with the service requirements of Inclusive Employment Australia providers who must ensure services and supports are tailored to the needs, capacity and personal circumstances of individual participants and promote ‘meaningful engagement’ (DSSLinks to an external site., 2025).
This course connects the theory with the practice and supports you in identifying gaps in your current approach, while providing practical techniques to enhance the service you deliver to your Inclusive Employment Australia participants.
Inclusive Employment Australia replaced the former Disability Employment Services – DES program in (November) 2025. The new program aims to place jobseekers and employers at the centre of service delivery, fostering meaningful engagement and relationships that lead to successful employment outcomes.
This Fundamentals for Inclusive Employment Australia course should be completed in conjunction with your providers onboarding process for new staff and does not replace the providers policies and procedures.
