Neil had worked in the insurance industry for 35 years, but was struggling to find employment. He approached his local MatchWorks office who advised him that a job at the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) would be a good fit, and was directed to genU Training to gain a formal qualification.
Studying a CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability at genU Training allowed Neil to become certified in a friendly environment.
“I chose to study as I identified that a career change may give me a better chance of securing employment,” Neil said.
“As a student with genU I found the experience quite enjoyable. The classes were conducted in a relaxed, friendly and collaborative manner that I found suited the way I learn best.”
Neil now works for the NDIS as a Local Area Co-ordinator and is pleased that everything he studied in the course is relevant to what he does daily in his job.
The ability to make a positive impact in people’s lives at work is extremely rewarding for Neil, and he credits genU Training for making his career change possible.
“I have the privilege of actually helping make a difference in someone’s life, and the pride and satisfaction I get from that I have never experienced in my previous working life of over 35 years,” Neil said.
“I would describe genU Training as a worthwhile experience that has actually allowed me to not only gain employment, but change my career and utilise my life skills.”
Courses at genU Training (TOID 5553) are now available.
